Please explain chat features.

Chat Icons

When you enter a chat room, you’ll see a list of people in the room. Your name will be at the top, followed by any administrators or moderators in the room. 

    Friends 

Users who you have friended

    Chat Moderators 

Appointed members capable of banning and silencing abusive users in the chat room.

    Room Owners

A moderator who has added responsibility to care for the room.

    Admin

Kongregate employees (also known as administrators or admins).

    Kong + Subscribers

Kong Plus subscribers

    Developers

Member who has uploaded a game.

    Forum Moderators

Moderators responsible in a given forum(s). This icon is not shown in chat.


Types of Chat Rooms

Kongregate chat is divided up into two types of rooms.

You can switch between the game chat and regular chat using the tabs at the top of the chat window. If you do not wish to see chat, you can select one of the other tabs above the chat window (for example, game information).

Regular Chat Rooms

People who are playing all different kinds of games.

All regular rooms have an expectation for what language(s) can be spoken in them; you will be automatically placed in a chat room based on the language setting of your internet browser.

Multiplayer Game chat Rooms

These rooms are named after the game (for example, SuperOssimRPG Room #01).

All game chat rooms are any-language; most people speak English, but players are welcome to communicate with each other in any language they like.


Other Chat Features

Changing Chat Rooms

To go to a different chat room, look at the top of the chat window.

Select "Chat actions" and choose "Change chat rooms." 

Chat Room Info

To check out information and rules for a chat room, look at the top of the chat window.

Select "Chat actions" and choose "Room info & help"

Favorite a Chat Room

To check out information and rules for a chat room, look at the top of the chat window.

Select "Chat actions" and choose "Favorite this room"

The chat room wiil now appear in your Favorite and Recent rooms.

Moderation Tools

You can mute a user, which prevents their messages and shouts from being view able to you. We recommend muting any users who you do not want to receive any communications from.


You can report a user which sends a report to the admins about their chat behavior. 




Reporting abuse allows admins to review the account for punishment. Please click here for more information about reporting abuse.

View Online Friends

To check out information and rules for a chat room, look at the top of the chat window.

Select "Chat actions" and choose "View Online Friends"

This will display all of your friends who are currently online.

Set Status to Away

To set yourself to "away" in chat. 

Select "Chat actions" and choose "Set Status Away"

/w , /msg, /whisper

To send a private chat message to another user, type the any of these options in chat before your message.
